LGC Cellular Coverage System Lets Fans Phone Home during NCAA Final Four

InterReach Unison® System Provides Huge Cellular Call Capacity in Georgia Dome and World Congress Center

SAN JOSE, CA, April 2, 2007—LGC Wireless, the leader in advanced in-building wireless systems, today announced that its InterReach Unison® system will enable clear and uninterrupted cell phone coverage during the NCAA® Men’s Final Four® event at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia on March 31 and April 2.

Indoor spaces like the Georgia Dome often don’t receive adequate cellular coverage and call capacity from external cell sites, and the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (WCCA)—operators of the Georgia Dome, Georgia World Congress Center, and Centennial Park—wanted to ensure clear, high-capacity coverage inside the 72,000-seat, 1.6 million square foot facility for sold-out events like the NCAA Men’s Final Four. To remedy the problem, Convention Center Long Distance (CCLD), WCCA’s telecommunications provider, worked with LGC Wireless to deploy its InterReach Unison system, which delivers pervasive cellular coverage with high call capacity in buildings of any size.

“As the world’s leading supplier of in-building cellular coverage solutions for major airports, stadiums, and other large public facilities, LGC’s experience and advanced technologies make it easy for customers like the Georgia Dome to deliver the coverage their customers demand,” said John Spindler, vice president of marketing at LGC Wireless. “LGC continues to evolve its industry-leading technology with InterReach Fusion, which further simplifies deployment and reduces costs for facilities of all sizes.”

The Unison system in Georgia Dome supports 850MHz iDen services for Sprint Nextel subscribers. It includes 6 Main Hubs, 19 Expansion Hubs, and 73 remote antenna units (RAUs).
