National Instruments Deploys LGC Fusion Singlestar Systems for Multi-Carrier In-Building Wireless

Three SingleStar Hubs Deliver Pervasive Coverage in
325,000 Square-Foot Headquarters

SAN JOSE, CALIF., December 4, 2006—LGC Wireless, the leader in advanced in-building wireless systems, today announced that National Instruments has deployed InterReach Fusion® SingleStar systems for pervasive, multi-carrier coverage in its Austin, Texas, headquarters. The systems, which are installed in the National Instruments’ eight-story main building, currently support cellular service from Cingular, Sprint and Verizon, with T-Mobile service coming online shortly.

Because NI headquarters is located in a small valley, most areas in the company’s eight-story building receive little or no cellular coverage from nearby external towers. By deploying the Fusion SingleStar system in its building, NI has completely eliminated coverage issues.

“Our main building houses the executive offices as well as conference rooms and training facilities, and we wanted our visiting customers and employees from other offices to have consistent phone, e-mail and Internet connections via their cellular devices,” said Kris Curtis, telecommunications specialist at National Instruments. “We conducted an extensive study of alternative solutions, and the Fusion SingleStar system was the only one that gave us the multi-carrier coverage we needed with an extremely simple architecture that was very easy and cost-effective to deploy.”

The building is provisioned with three Fusion SingleStar hubs and 24 remote access units (RAUs). Because the LGC systems use standard broadband CATV cabling to connect the RAUs to the hubs, the system could be deployed within three weeks by a standard networking cable installation team.

“Our Fusion SingleStar system greatly simplifies deployment of multi-carrier coverage because it can handle multiple carrier frequencies with a single set of hubs and antennas,” said John Spindler, vice president of marketing at LGC Wireless. “The National Instruments headquarters is our largest Fusion SingleStar deployment to date, and it shows that SingleStar can deliver the same uniformly strong wireless signals and end-to-end management throughout a large, multi-story building while offering outstanding architectural simplicity and the industry’s lowest cost of deployment.”
