LGC Wireless Introduces Multi-Carrier Solution for In-Building
Wireless Coverage
San Jose, Calif., May, 15, 2006—LGC Wireless,
the leader in advanced in-building wireless systems, today announced
Fusion SingleStar, the first in a line of in-building wireless
systems that support multi-frequency coverage. Based on its InterReach® Unison
line of active in-building wireless systems, Fusion SingleStar
delivers multiple RF frequencies with the same industry-leading
performance that has made LGC’s Unison systems the most popular
in-building systems in the world.
“We have a lot of mobile employees within our offices, so
strong and consistent wireless coverage is very important to us” said
Steve Swasey, director of corporate communications at Netflix. “The
Fusion SingleStar system from LGC met all our needs. The system
was extremely easy to install, and is a very cost-effective solution
for us.”
By supporting multiple frequencies in a single system, Fusion
SingleStar allows building or facilities owners to support multiple
carriers, and it allows carriers to effectively deliver voice and
high performance data services inside buildings where factors such
as topography, foliage, and building architecture impact cellular
coverage. Fusion SingleStar’s unique dedicated capacity per
frequency band eliminates uncertainties in scalability and coverage
that are common in other systems, making it easier and less expensive
to install.
“Cell phones are everywhere, and employees in smaller buildings
shouldn’t become second-class citizens just because of inadequate
indoor coverage,” said Aaron Vance, analyst at Synergy Research. “LGC
is one of the first vendors to offer an in-building system that
delivers multi-carrier coverage in these smaller spaces.”
Like LGC’s Unison system, Fusion SingleStar uses active
electronics and standard building cabling to deliver zero-loss
RF performance with end-to-end management. A web management interface
is included, and the management system supports SNMP for integration
with standard network management systems. Each distributed remote
antenna delivers maximum output power to support both voice and
high speed data, and the system requires fewer distributed antennas
than competing systems.
“Customers have asked us to deliver a system that offers
a unified radio network infrastructure that can support any cellular
carrier as well as public safety, and Fusion SingleStar is the
answer,” said John Spindler, vice president of marketing
at LGC Wireless. “It combines all of the advantages of our
Unison systems with multi-band capabilities that truly unify wireless
services under a single architecture.”
Fusion SingleStar supports up to 8 remote units (RAUs), making
it suitable for installations ranging from 100,000 to 350,000 square
feet. The system is available now.
