LGC Wireless Collaborates with Nortel To Deliver In-Building CDMA
Wireless Solutions
San Jose, Calif., March 28, 2006—LGC Wireless,
the leader in advanced in-building wireless systems, today announced
an agreement with Nortel which will enable Nortel to distribute
its in-building wireless products as part of Nortel’s CDMA
portfolio of mobile wireless infrastructure solutions. Nortel is
a leading vendor of cellular base stations and related equipment
for CDMA, GSM and UMTS networks.
“In years past, wireless subscribers tolerated the lack
of cellular coverage inside buildings, but today people expect
their mobile devices to work from wherever they choose, whether
it’s a local mall, convention center or sporting event," said
Doug Wolff, general manger, CDMA, Nortel. "With this agreement
we’ll be able to better equip CDMA operators to provide a
stronger signal and high-quality communication experience to subscribers,
regardless of their location.”
Under the agreement, Nortel will sell and distribute LGC’s
InterReach Unison systems around the world, giving LGC a strong
global distribution partner that is a leader in carrier wireless
infrastructure. Nortel (booth 1835, Hall C3) and LGC Wireless (booth
2117) will be showcasing LGC’s products at the CTIA convention
in Las Vegas on April 5-7, 2006.
“Nortel is a major global player in 3G cellular and wireless
broadband, and this agreement better enables them to offer a high-quality
in-building system directly to their CDMA customers,” said
John Spindler, vice president of marketing at LGC Wireless. “We
think the combination of Nortel’s market presence and LGC’s
broad carrier acceptance will increase market opportunities for
both companies.”
